How to import AHIT InspectIt template and comment files into EZ Home Inspection Software

We now have an import feature that allows us to import InspectIt template and comment files into EZ Home Inspection Software.

The instructions below will show you how to get your template and comment files from InspectIt so that we can import those into your EZ Home Inspection Software account. Please click the correct dropdown below for the device that you have InspectIt on.

If you have any trouble getting the files off of your mobile device, please contact InspectIt support directly and they can help you get those files. Their contact number is 1-800-532-7649.

Step 1: Get your InspectIt template files from iPhone/iPad

To get your InspectIT software template files from an iPad or iPhone, please follow the steps below.

Required tools

Windows 7/10 computer, lightning cable for iPad / iPhone, iTunes

  1. Open or download iTunes onto your computer (Download Here: https://www.apple.com/itunes/)
  2. Plug your iPad / iPhone into your computer and click “Trust” or “Allow” on both iTunes and your device when the prompts appear
  3. In the top left of iTunes next to “Music”, an icon mimicking the shape of your device (iPad / iPhone) will appear. Click this icon to open your device’s details
  4. On the left-hand sidebar click “File Sharing”, then click “InspectIT” in the list of applications that appear. Note: If the screen remains blank after clicking “InspectIT”, wait a few minutes for the list to generate
  5. Select the four files below by holding “Ctrl” on your keyboard and clicking one at a time:
    Inspectit.sqlite
    Inspectit.sqlite-shm
    Inspectit.sqlite-wal
    Photos
  6. Once all four files are highlighted, scroll to the bottom of the page and hit the “Save” button. We recommend creating a new folder under your Documents or Desktop each time this process is done to recognize the differences in backups, using a naming convention similar to “InspectIT Backup MM-DD-YYYY”.

Step 2: Send files to EZ with account email:

Once you have these files, send the files and the email address of the EZ account they need to be imported into to support@ezhomeinspectionsoftware.com and our developers will get those imported for you.

Step 1: Get your InspectIt template files ffrom an Android 10 device

To transfer InspectIT templates from one Android device to another, please follow the instructions below. Note that this will not work for iOS devices.

  1. Open InspectIT on the device containing the templates and comments that you would like to transfer
  2. Click “Administration”, then “Inspection Templates”
  3. Open the template that you would like to transfer. In the top-right corner click the “Export” button (do this for each template you would like to transfer)
  4. Navigate back to “Administration”, click “Comments”, then click “Export Comments” in the top-right
  5. Exit InspectIT
  6. Open the “Files” or “My Files” application on your Android device
  7. Follow the path specified here: Internal Storage -> Android -> data -> com.inspectit.cloud.android.homereport -> photos
  8. At the bottom of “photos” folder you will see your exported templates and comments. Click and hold to select all of them, then hit the “Share” button to email them to yourself or others
  9. On the device the email was sent to, open the email containing the attached comments and templates and download each of them
  10. Open InspectIT on the second device and navigate to “Administration”, then “Inspection Templates”
  11. Click “Import Template” in the top-right corner, then select “Download” as the location. Select each inspection template one at a time, but do not click the “exported_comments.xml” file
  12. Navigate back to “Administration”, then “Comments”. Click “Import Comments” in the top-right corner, select the “Download” folder, then click “exported_comments.xml”

Step 2: Send files to EZ with account email:

Once you have these files, send the files and the email address of the EZ account they need to be imported into to support@ezhomeinspectionsoftware.com and our developers will get those imported for you.

Step 1: Get your InspectIt template files from an Android 11 device

Note that this process will not work for any devices in the Samsung Galaxy S21 series and will require you to contact inspectit support at 1-800-532-7649 with a computer available. We apologize for any inconveniences.

  1. Open the “Play Store” application on your device and search for “X-plore File Manager”. Install this application, then click the “Open” button
  2. Click the “Allow” button whenever X-plore File Manager asks for permission
  3. Click “Internal Storage”, click “Android”, then click “Data”. This will cause X-plore File Manager to again prompt for permission. Click “Allow”, then click “Use this folder” at the bottom of the screen when the option appears
  4. Once permission is given, make sure that the “data” folder now displays several entries starting with with the “com.” If you see this, proceed to step 5. Otherwise, click “Android” then click “data” once more
  5. Click the “New Folder” button that appears in yellow on the right-hand sidebar. Name the new folder exactly as written here, with no capitalization (and without quotes): “com.inspectit.cloud.android.homereport”
  6. Once the new folder has been added, restart your mobile device. InspectIT will now allow you to generate reports with no further errors.
